Brain Gym® - Overview

Brain Gym®, a trade name for educational kinesiology (Edu-K), is a system of over 200 applied physical movements and processes which positively affect the way our brain, senses and body works by eliminating deep stress and drawing out innate whole/brain-body balance. Movements can improve reading, writing, listening and coordination skills. The balancing process improves breathing, visual-motor skills, concentration and other essential functions.

Educational kinesiology was developed by Dr. Paul Dennison and his wife, Gail Dennison, through over ten years of clinical practice with learning disabled children and adults. In 1989 Edu-K was embraced by the National Learning Foundation as one of the 12 most innovative programs in education. The use of Brain Gym continues to grow among teachers and other practitioners and is now taught in over 20 countries around the world.

The Edu-K one-to-one balancing process for children and adults helps to regulate and resolve conflicts between physical structures and their functions. Addressed are seven dimensions of human intelligence: neural communication, organization and comprehension, physical structure, personal ecology, emotions and energy. It includes sensory/perceptual evaluations of neurological responses. The balancing process supports personal goals, facilitates learning, self-awareness, mind-body re-vitalization and change without intervention of a medical or psychologic technique.

David Mumm has been certified by the Educational Kinesiology Foundation for over fifteen years as a licensed Brain Gym Instructor and Consultant. In addition to private sessions, he conducts school teacher in-service training and corporate stress management programs.

"Hello David -
I have recently taken a test and received a 92 and that is really good for me, I normally would have gotten in the 70's and it was a 100 word vocab test... I can honestly say that I enjoy reading now. I have read one full book and understood it and I'm starting another one and I can't put it down. Your program really did help me alot! Thank you soooooo much!
Sincerely,
Chantel"
