PowerLearn BrainWorks Program

Braxton had appeared to be developmentally delayed. At 7yrs old, when he began seeing David, his behavior and interests (games and cartoons he was drawn to) were more like that of a 4yr old. At school his reading and comprehension levels were evaluated; this led to his participation in a reading recovery program. Unfortunately he didn't seem to benefit from this intense program; after completing it he was still reading at a pre-k level in first grade. Braxton was also on medication for ADHD, and up to 36mg of Concerta, which caused him to be, as noted by his mother, "like a zombie".

Some of Braxton's other challenges include remembering questions asked him, finding words to finish his sentences, repeating words, stuttering, and mumbling.
After working with David, Braxton's parents were able to successfully take him off the medication. They also changed the family diet to avoid stress foods, and began the use of essential oils. Braxton's mother said the speech therapist was "blown away by how much his memory changed after sessions". Her own words were "He's not the same kid I tested."
His two grandmothers had very similar observations: One said, "Now he's very pleasant to be around. He used to be off the wall, but now you can have a normal conversation with him and understand him." The other remarked, "He's so pleasant to be around; now we can talk on the phone and I can understand him."
Braxton's parents noticed that he matured a lot in a short period of time following the sessions; he is now acting like a regular little boy his own age, interested in activities, TV, and games for his own age.
His sports performance has also improved tremendously. Before Braxton couldn't take in what coaches were teaching in wrestling. His mother observed, "He would see what they demonstrated, would try to do it, maybe got it once but couldn't remember it. It was like talking to a wall." After the sessions, he starting learning, remembering, and put to use what coach taught in a match, started getting 1sts and 2nds in matches, and started moving his body better. All of a sudden he could use everything in the right way.
Since October, 2006, when David met with Braxton, he has displayed a gradually increasing loss of immaturity, decrease in speech difficulties, improvement in sports and physical activity, and increase in age-appropriate interests. |
